Overcome your Inhibitions!

“What is your earliest memory and how has that played out in your life?” Thanks Tony Robbins for asking in your documentary “I’m Not Your Guru”.

In less than a nanosecond, I transported back to my earliest memory. Really? I’ve been living out my entire life based on THAT memory?

I was in the stroller. Bumps were coming! My Mom did one of those stroller maneuvers completely avoiding the bumps! MOM! Bumps are FUN!

But I was too young to speak.

I felt stifled. I felt the loneliness of my unexpressed thoughts. My opinion remained unheard. I felt invisible. Dependent, I felt a complete lack of freedom.

Wow Tony Robbins! How did you know we have so much wisdom in our earliest memories? How did you know we make life plans from these moments?

Overcoming speaking hurdles and being free in my expression has been at the core of ALL my accomplishments! Why? Because speaking and being heard didn’t come easily.

But that memory drilled into me that I NEVER wanted to feel stifled, unheard, unexpressed, invisible, or lack of freedom ever again.

  • 🙁 I had extreme childhood shyness.
  • 🙂 I fell in love with the violin, which meant overcoming the shyness.
  • 🙂 After studying the violin with world class teachers in New York City I felt invincible!
  • 🙁 The last thing I expected was for performance anxiety to keep me unemployed. (You know that feeling of knowing your skill level and watching yourself grossly underperform? Yeah… that…)
  • 🙂 I overcame my performance anxiety! (10 year journey)
  • 🙂 Became Concertmaster of the Central Oregon Symphony for 15 years performing hundreds of concerts for thousands of people. I was at the top of my game.
  • 🙂 Taught hundreds of violin students to be expressive with their music.
  • 🙁 As a Youtube early adopter, the moment I saw myself speaking on video, I turned myself in and began speaker training.
  • 🙂 Back to training with world class teachers. This time world class Speakers.
  • 🙂 Time to be direct with my own voice and my own message! (Retired from the violin. Done playing a high maintenance demanding instrument playing other people’s music.)
  • 🙂 Speaker & Speaking Coach! Inspiring others to shed their own inhibitions, speak their message, and make a difference.

Speaking inhibits us all. Whether it’s speaking in public, in private, to certain people or to yourself.

When you overcome your inhibitions, you’ll experience inner freedom.

Having the ability to give voice to your thoughts, passions, and ideas greatly increases your ability to make a difference in your personal life and make a difference in the world.

I learned the hard way. Let me make this easier for you…
